I’m almost home! Well, sort of. I’ve got about an hour and a half left at the airport and then a 5 and a half hour flight but then I’m home. Can’t wait. I haven’t slept in my own bed since last Tuesday night so I’m pretty jazzed.
You know what else I’m excited for? Pilates! I’m signed up for a class at 12:15 tomorrow and am crossing my fingers that nothing at work comes up to get in my way.
And speaking of workouts, I managed to clean up the past few days and get some workouts and veggies back into my system. Normally work functions are crazy – lots of food/drinks etc and while all of that was definitely offered, I was better than I’ve been in the past – skipped desserts and only had one glass of wine last night.
Plus I worked out all 3 days (FYI this Westin workout facility paled in comparison to others I’ve been to). Cardio and weights Monday. 40 minutes on the treadmill Tuesday, and a quick 30 minute Nike Training Club session in my hotel room this morning.
Oh and before I forget, I have to tell you about the BEST yogurt I have ever had (not kidding, probably the highlight if this trip). It’s some sort of homemade Greek variety with real vanilla flecks. It was sooooo good. I’ve tried to research it and thinking it might be made by Atlanta Fresh? If anyone in the Atlanta area has ever heard of this yogurt let me know. The catering company was A Divine Event. I’m borderline so obsessed with this yogurt (and homemade granola) that I might contact them to see if there’s anyway they can tell me where they got this yogurt. I NEED it in Portland.
What else, what else. Oh here’s a photo of me in grown-up clothes (taken in my closet). No real reason for this other than I like to document that my work wardrobe now includes things like dress pants and belts as opposed to hoodies and sneakers. I mean, right now I’m at the airport wearing a blazer. Wow-e.
And with that, I’m off. I have a little reading to tackle before I go hunt down some dinner. Let me tell you. There are NO healthy options here. What I wouldn’t do for some Subway…
Awesome awesome awesome weekend in SF. I had so much fun with Chris and all our friends. I hit the jack pot when I met him and married into this circle of friends. As I sit here on a plane heading farther away from home it sure makes me realize how amazing my life is and how I wish I was heading back to Portland right now with everyone else. These next few days better fly by because we’ve got Kip Moore and Eric Church on Thursday. Can’t wait!
Life is good. Thanks for giving me this life Chris. I love you :)
Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, new favorite chocolate flavor, Golden Gate Bridge (in the distance), Trolly rides.
Want to know why? Because I now go into work before flights. We leave at 12:45 for SF and before, I’d take the full day off. No need to be stressed on travel days.
Now I go to work to bang things out. And I put my cell phone # on my out office and tell people to call me. I say things like “responses may be delayed.”
Um, they should be. It’s my vacation.
Who am I?
A lady who crams a lot into a little. Take my workouts for example. All occurred before work this week. A run on Monday. Pilates and the elliptical Tuesday and the spin bike + some jumping jack/squat/sit-up/push-up action yesterday. No workout today because we headed to the coast after work to see the in-laws and drop Chance off with them. And then we got up this morning and drove straight to work from the beach.
Side note – I love nights like last night. Got to hang with awesome people, see the stars, hear the sounds of the ocean as I fall asleep. Fantastic.
And now I’m off to the airport. Hope you are all having great weeks so far. Woo hoo for being this close to the weekend.
I’m dead serious.
This weekend could easily go down in history as the weekend when I did nothing but lay around the house, watch Dirty Dancing (twice!) and eat Halloween candy. And guess what? It was glorious!!!
Chris was on a work trip and with him went my camera so you get to enjoy my talents with the iphone.
Friday was rather traumatic as I had to pick Chance up from the vet after he had surgery to remove a skin tag (gross). Everything went perfectly normal except he was super drugged up on morphine and I opted to spend my Friday afternoon working from home with a 90lb dog snuggled up by my side on the couch (which never happens but the guy had stitches so what can you do?). Pretty sure we stayed there until we went to bed (except for the time I got up and moved the bowl of Halloween candy right next to me).
Saturday I stayed in my jammies until around 2 and then cleaned the house, rode the spin bike for an hour (while watching Stepmom – um, do not try to workout while crying. There were a few moments where I seriously couldn’t catch my breath) and hit up Nordstrom rack from some new work clothes and Petsmart for toys for Chance (which he promptly tore up). And ate more Halloween candy.
And then I came home and watched the Beav game. Yay. Beavs win. And then I found Dirty Dancing on TV and watched it. Love. Favorite movie ever. It will never get old to me.
I woke up Sunday, ate breakfast and hopped on the spin bike again and low and behold, Dirty Dancing was on again!!! Count my lucky stars. I spent 45 minutes watching Johnny and Baby have the time of their lives and the best part was this must have been the special 25 year anniversary version because there were actually scenes that were new to me. NEW! I have every line in this movie memorized so it was like an early Christmas present or something to see new scenes. Now I feel like I need to buy that version to go along with my other version.
And then I picked Chris up at the airport. Went grocery shopping, walked Chance (awesome, warm, fall night) and ate pizza (but did not eat Halloween candy!).
There you go. My weekend. Riveting I’m sure. I gained 5 pounds and want to take dancing lessons but it was great. Especially since things are about to get nutty with a 3 day work-week, PTO in San Francisco straight to some work meetings in Atlanta.
Sometimes when life gets crazy we all need to remember to stop and smell the roses.
Which is exactly what I did tonight. My mom was in town to babysit my cousin so after acupuncture I swung by to have a bowl of chili and some mom-daughter bonding time. While I was sitting there, there were a million things running through my mind that I needed to do but I did my best to turn them off.
I’m so lucky to have a mom who cares about me so much that she’ll just surprise me with flowers (my favorites in my favorite colors) because she loves me.
I can only hope one day to be as good of a mom as she is.
not trying to just post pics of myself but since I didn’t get one of the two of us together I’m posting the one she took…after many laughs and out-takes.
And with that, I’m off to bed (with a belly STUFFED full of Kit Kats and Reese’s PB Cups).
